January 2012 - premiere of "Ave Maria Gratia Plena" (a setting of an Oscar Wilde sonnet) at the Royal Musical Association Conference at Hull University on Friday 6th January at 1.45pm. I also gave a well-received paper on Britten's War Requiem. Further details of both at academia.edu.

December 2011 - premieres of "Balulalow" and "We Three Kings"
The Glasgow University Chapel Choir performed Balulalow in their nine Lessons and Carols service on 11th December in Glasgow University Chapel. Listen to a recording of the premiere here!
Cappella Nova also included my arrangement of "We Three Kings" in their Christmas concerts.
On 3rd November, Daniel's Beard gave a very successful premiere of Actaeon and Diana - listen to the recording on SoundCloud.

Composer biography and list of works

Commissions and requests

If you'd like to discuss works for your choir or performing group, please get in touch. My work includes writing for choirs at all levels, and I am able to write suitable pieces for a choir performing at any level, from absolute beginners and children's choirs to professional choirs, large and small.

Composing tuition

I'm interested in teaching composition at all levels, and have taught from Standard Grade (GCSE) to university undergraduate level. If you're interested in receiving private composition tuition, or arranging specialist tuition for a school class, please contact me. I'm based in Falkirk but can travel to Edinburgh or Glasgow.

Conducting

I conduct choirs, orchestras and chamber groups. I currently conduct the Dick Vet Orchestra and Choir (Edinburgh University Veterinary School) and my own choir "Dolcelatte". I can travel to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling and areas nearby; if you're looking for a conductor, please get in touch (details below).

Ensemble Tours

From 2002 to 2007, I ran Ensemble Tours, organising tours of Scotland and beyond for performing arts groups. Ensemble Tours no longer exists. I'm happy to recommend other tour companies if asked.
